Yufuin Station

This was the first station building designed by Arata Isozaki.
On the premises, there is a tourist information center, an art gallery that also serves as a waiting room, and a footbath on platform 1 for a fee. In the center of the building is a 12-meter high atrium.
When the Yufu Tourist Information Center was built next door, Shigeru Ban added a washroom on the left side so that the station building would be symmetrical. The interior was designed by Eiji Mitooka, an industrial designer and design advisor to JR Kyushu.
