International Library of Children’s Literature, National Diet Library

The Imperial Library, originally designed by Masamichi Kuru and Hideo Mamizu and built in 1906, has been selected as a Tokyo historical building. Since then it has been renovated and expanded, to preserve the building, and currently is used as a Childrens’ library. This is a four-story building with a basement. Tadao Ando oversaw the new construction portion of the building.
Received BELCA Prize and BCS Prize.
