Six Smart Hanging Storage Ideas

Six Smart Hanging Storage Ideas

Storage Ideas

October 10. 2023

Hi! I’m Sayaka Minami, a Japanese minimalist, and a professional organizer.

There are many ways to organize to tidy up your home, such as stacking, storing vertically, using an organizer, and so on.
In this episode, I am introducing “the hanging method”, which is the most efficient and best way to declutter a room.

1. Wall Hooks At the Entryway

When you come home, do you tend to leave your jackets and bags on the floor or living room sofa?
If this is the case, try adding wall hooks to your entryway.
This will prevent you from bringing items that are not used inside the house, such as jackets and hats.

2. Hanging With S-shaped Hooks

If there is a closet bar or a towel rack, try to use S-shaped hooks.
It will make it easier to visualize what you have, and you can keep track of what you have, which can help prevent wasteful purchases.

3. Magnetic Hooks

If you find a place where magnets can be used, magnetic hooks are very handy.
I recommend the neodymium magnet hooks.
They are compact but have strong magnetism, so you can hang things efficiently.

4. Hanging Behind Doors

There are many doors in a house, a front door, a bathroom door, a children’s room door, a closet door…
Why not turn that area into storage space?
Choose hooks in the same color as the door. This way the hook does not stand out and looks neat.

5. Suction Cup Hooks

You may find a difficult to hand a thing in a bathroom and kitchen because the walls are tiled, and holes cannot be drilled.
Suction cup hooks are ideal for such places.

Suction cup hooks are easy to use, however, you may have experienced those slipping off.
When this happens, here is a tip. Wipe off the dirt on the wall and the suction cup.
Soak the suction cup in hot water of about 80°C/176°F and try installing it again. It may help to solve this problem.

6. Simply Hang a Large Hobby Item

It can be difficult to find a place to store large hobby items like surfboards and mountain bikes.
In situations like this, it’s best to simply hang them on the wall and display them.
A hobby item can be a great interior decoration.

I am optimistic that this episode will be beneficial.
